ELIGIBILITY

ELIGIBILITY

The Committee responsible for the competition may, within the Terms of the Competition, determine additional criteria based on players’ performance or use other performance-based indicators of ability, in addition to the Handicap Index
(Rules of Handicapping – Rule 7.2a / Section VI – Rule 1.5 – Cooperation between the Handicap Committee and the Committee in charge of the Competition).

Datagolf provides access to supplementary performance data, subject to:

– Use of the DGLinks registration link for online entries;
– The player’s explicit consent for the organising entity (other than the home Club and the FPG) to access this data.

This data is provided for information purposes only. Any decision regarding acceptance or rejection of an entry rests with the Committee, in accordance with the Terms of the Competition.

  • INTERPRETING PERFORMANCE DATA

    Tournaments/Results → Tournament Entry Links → Tournament → Registered Players → Eligibility

    The list of registered players provides the following data:

    – Handicap Index and Score Differential (SD)

    Based on:
    . The player’s current Handicap Index: the player’s current Handicap Index, i.e. that produced by the most recent handicap calculation and the corresponding score differentials;
    . Score Differential (SD): represents to which Handicap Index the player played to on that round. It is calculated from the gross score, adjusted to the maximum hole score, and taking into account the course difficulty and the playing conditions.

    Includes:

    – Index: Current Handicap Index.

    Total Rounds: Number of Score Differentials used in the calculation of the current Handicap Index.

    Tournaments: Data from competitions organised by FPG-approved entities:(FPG Clubs and Institutional Members)
    No. of rounds, average score differential, best and worst score differential.

    General Play: Data from general play scores
    No. of rounds, average score differential, best and worst score differential.

    General Play – Competitions / SD Difference:
    This is the difference between the average SD in general play and the average SD in competition:

    . When the value is negative, it means that the scores are better in general play than in competition and, depending on the specific calculations, this may have led to a reduction in the player’s Handicap Index

    . When the value is positive, it means that scores are worse in general play than in competition and, depending on the specific calculations, this may have had an upward impact on the player’s Handicap Index.

    These values should be interpreted together with the number and proportion of each type of score.

    No Returns: Number of scorecards not returned in the last year.

    Start Date: Date of the oldest Score Differential included in the current Handicap Index calculation.

    Notes:
    – Overseas scores (imported or competition scores) are not included;

    – This data corresponds to that used in Handicap Review – Additional Measures (Current Handicap Index), available to the Handicap Committee of the player’s Home Club. It is recommended that Handicap Committees, which have experience in analysing this data, support the Committee in interpreting the data.

    – VAC-F

    The VAC-F (FPG Competition Admission Value) is available for competitions organised by Clubs and Institutional Members.

    – Requires recalculation for update (via the Update VAC-Fs button).
