FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS

What additional actions should the Committee take to register a scorecard with a status which is not valid?

In a competition, the Committee has to carry out additional enquiries to register the status of the score properly:

• When a player is disqualified, the Committee needs to assess whether the score can be submitted for handicapping (Rule 2.1 of the Rules of Handicapping).

• Whenever one or more holes have not been played and the scorecard is incomplete, the Committee needs to evaluate whether the required minimum number of holes for an acceptable handicap score has been played (9 holes in a 9-hole round or 10 holes in an 18-hole round), assess the reasons and determine whether the score should be submitted for handicapping, using the ‘complete score’ function (Rule 3.2 of the Rules of Handicapping).

• When a scorecard is not returned, the Committee must make every effort to identify the score for handicapping, namely by contacting the player, contacting the player’s partners, reviewing the marker’s scorecard, etc. If identifiable, and complete or completable, the Committee must submit the score as ‘Disqualified with HCP Result – No Scorecard’ (Rule 7.1b of the Rules of Handicapping).

These enquiries and decisions are relevant to the correct registration of the scores, to the player’s handicap, and for monitoring by the respective Handicap Committee.

How can the Committee apply the status of a scorecard when the competition is being organised with Live Scoring?

The scorecard status options in Live Scoring are simplified, so after importing Live Scoring into Datagolf the Technical Commission needs to check and select the suitable option in:
Datagolf -> Tournaments -> Results -> Standard Introduction -> Status + Classif. Status

How to record the score for handicapping when a player submits a scorecard where one or more holes have been played, but not hole out, for a valid reason, in an individual stroke play format that does not allow the player to pick up the ball before the hole is finished?

The player is disqualified from the competition (Rule of Golf 2.1b) and registered with the status ‘Disqualified with HCP Result’. The Committee manually registers a number of strokes equivalent to net double bogey (Rule 3.3 of the Rules of Handicapping).
This situation occasionally arises in organised competitions, usually called ‘Medal’ competitions.

How do you register the score for handicapping when a player submits a scorecard in which one or more holes have not been played, for a valid reason, and the required minimum number of holes for an acceptable handicap round was played?

According to the Rules of Handicapping, for handicap purposes, an expected score is considered for the hole. That is currently recorded as net Par, using the ‘complete result” function (Rule 3.2 of the Rules of Handicapping).

Is it possible to check online the status of the scorecard in detail?

In the online publications of the results, it is possible to view in detail the scorecards with a valid status.
The details of scorecards with other status are only available via the reserved access of the player and their Home Club, in the player’s results and handicap scoring record.
